Linux Alpha - Additional hardware
- Mass storage adapters
- Diamond Fireport and anything with symbios logic 53c875 uw scsi chip
work OK
- SCSI cards from http://www.digitalscape.com/
are reported to work
- Soundcards
- All real Soundblaster soundcards seem to run fine in any Alpha (at
least where they fit ;)
- The Microsoft Soundsystem sound options built into Multias and
AlphaStation 200 work
- Videocards
- Nearly all SVGA cards should run in Alphas as they do in Intel PCs.
But there are still some XFree servers for some cards missing so
please have a look at the list of available servers for Alphas
before purchasing a new card!
- WinTV-PCI and all other BT848 cards run in Alphas as they do in Intel
based PCs. But it is reported that the only running viewer application
is xawtv
- Network adapters
- Normal ISA cards do work, like NE2000 clones. Cards using shared
memory do not seem to work (like SMC Ultra)!
- PCI NE2000 clones work perfectly
- D-Link DFE500-TX PCI
- Genius Ge2500 ne2000 PCI, the ISA is reported to cause trouble
- Ethernet cards from http://www.digitalscape.com/
are reported to work
- ATM does work with many constraints, some guys at TU-Dresden
experiment with this.
- ISDN Adapters
- AVM-A1 (aka Fritz Classic) passive ISDN card is reported to work out of
the box with kernel 2.0.36pre
