ATM and Linux
There are some efforts going on trying to have ATM support for Linux. For now
there are two different approaches
- Werner Almesberger's
- TU Chemnitz
Werner Almesberger, already famous for his LILO bootloader and many many
patches and enhancements, coordinates the widest spread Linux ATM driver
support.
Another team at TU Chemnitz has developed an own ATM adapter card (!!!) and
Linux driver support for it. They do development mostly on Linux-AXP, i.e.
on Digital Alpha machines.
Some useful links
The computer science department of the university of Siegen plans to have a PC
pool of about 20 up to 40 PCs all networked with ATM ... and Linux of course!
Stay tuned!
- The decision is made: We will have ATM cards from Efficient and 'standard'
Pentium PCs with 166MHz or 200MHz, Linux with Almesberger's driver. The
machines will arrive probably mid of June (hopefully).
- OK OK ... end of June is over now but our machines are still not here ;(
Stay tuned! I will keep you informed!
