Kernel 2.1.129 seems to compile and run fine after applying a patch by Jay
Estabrook. The patch is scheduled to be included in 2.1.130 but I did not
yet check this. The patch came through on the axp-mailing-list and can be
downloaded here. Remove the mail header from
this patch before trying to apply it!

Kernels 2.2.* (up to 2.2.5) seem to have problems with SCSI cdrom driver
compiled as module. This casues immediate kernel panic at insmod. Solve:
Compile the CDROM driver into the kernel.
Apart from this 2.2.* seem to run fine.

Compaq has released a more or less free fast math library for Linux-Alpha.
It is free in the sense that everyone can use it but they did not release
the source. For more information have a look at http://www.unix.digital.com/linux/cpml.htm
The library is more portable than libffm and also slightly faster.
